Important Update for Home Builders & Industry Professionals
The Simcoe County Home Builders’ Association encourages members to review the latest administrative updates related to Ontario’s enhanced HST New Housing Rebate.
As implementation continues, builders should work closely with their legal, accounting, and tax advisors to understand how these changes may impact:
✔️ Purchase and sale agreements
✔️ Disclosure language
✔️ Accounting and tax treatment
✔️ Purchaser communications
✔️ Mortgage and lender communications
✔️ Internal sales processes
It is also important that your sales, finance, and legal teams are familiar with the updated administrative requirements, including the purchaser consent process that allows information sharing between the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the Ontario Ministry of Finance to facilitate payment of the federal portion of the rebate.
SCHBA will continue to keep members informed as additional guidance becomes available.
